What’s changing with NDIS support for Art and Music Therapy?

The NDIS has announced a pricing update for art and music therapy services. Starting 24 November 2025, the hourly rate for both therapies will be reduced from $193.99 to $156.16.

It’s also important to note that:

  • These services should not be claimed under “Other Professional” or unrelated categories.

What exactly is art therapy?

Art therapy uses creative expression—like drawing, painting, or sculpting—to support emotional wellbeing, process trauma, and build self-esteem. It’s a therapeutic approach that encourages reflection, relaxation, and healing through visual art.

This form of therapy can be helpful for people of all ages and backgrounds, depending on their individual needs.

And what about Music Therapy?

Music therapy taps into the emotional and physical power of music. Whether it’s singing, playing instruments, composing, or simply listening, music therapy can support:

  • Communication
  • Emotional regulation
  • Motor skills and mobility
  • Cognitive development
  • Identity and confidence

Some sessions may even include movement or dance to help with coordination and physical engagement.
