The outcomes of this review feed into the NDIS Pricing Schedule and Support Catalogue – the documents that guide how supports are priced and claimed.
For 2026–27, there are a number of updates that may impact how your supports are delivered and billed. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed.
Key changes for 2026–27
Updates to disability support worker pricing
There’s been an increase to disability support worker (DSW) pricing, in line with recent minimum wage changes.
- The new hourly base cap is $73.58
- Psychosocial recovery coaching has also increased, with a new rate of $110.44 per hour
This helps ensure workers are paid fairly while maintaining consistency across the sector.
New support worker line items
The Pricing Schedule now includes four structured DSW levels, making it clearer how supports are categorised:
- Level 1: Standard supports (e.g. daily care, group activities, SIL, STA)
- Level 2: Higher intensity supports, including complex behaviour support
- Level 3: Capacity building supports, such as life skills, employment support, and help navigating transitions
- Level 4: Specialist supports, including psychosocial recovery coaching and assistive technology support
No change to Support Coordination or Plan Management fees
Good news – there are no changes to pricing for:
- Support Coordination
- Plan Management
These services will continue to be funded separately from your core supports, with no out-of-pocket cost to you.
Short Term Respite (STR) is changing
One of the biggest changes this year is how Short Term Respite (STR) is priced.
Previously (bundled):
- One daily rate covered everything (accommodation, food, and support)
From 1 July (unbundled):
- Costs will now be separated
- Accommodation
- Support (based on actual hours and level of care)
This means providers will need to itemise each part of an STR stay, rather than charging a single daily rate.
The accommodation component is expected to align with Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) pricing, currently $162.85 per night.
The goal of this change us to improve transparency and ensure you’re only paying for the supports you receive.
Increases to nursing and other supports
Supports outside of the DSW model – such as nursing and some capital-related supports – will increase by around 3.4%.
New therapy-related line items
There are now clearer ways to claim for non-face-to-face therapy work, including:
- Preparation
- Documentation
- NDIA-requested reports
Travel time
This allows providers to separately itemise these activities, making claims more transparent and easier to understand.
Changes to allied health pricing
Some allied health price caps have been adjusted:
- Dietetics: ↓ 5.2%
- Other Professional supports: ↓ ~20%
- Exercise Physiology: ↓ 3% (now $161.99/hour)
- Psychology & Behaviour Support: ↑ 8% (now $252.99/hour)
All other allied health price caps remain unchanged.
Other pricing updates
A few additional rates to note:
- Psychologists: up to $252.99 per hour
- Orientation & Mobility Specialists: up to $156.16 per hour
- Other Professionals: up to $156.16 per hour
